SPICED HONEY SWEET POTATO PIE

This recipe uses our new milder Spiced Honey BBQ Sauce to add a subtle, warm sweetness and depth to a classic Southern pie.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. Tamarind Heads Spiced Honey (Mild) BBQ Sauce
  • 2 cups cooked and mashed sweet potato
  • 1 1/4 cups evaporated milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/8 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 2 Tbsp. dark rum
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust

Instructions

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. 2 In the bowl of a food processor, combine Tamarind Heads Honey Mild BBQ Sauce, mashed sweet potatoes, evaporated milk, eggs, sugar, melted butter, rum, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Process until smooth and fully blended.
  3. 3 Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust, smoothing the top.
  4. 4 Bake at 425°F for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 300°F and continue baking until the filling is set and firm, about 50 minutes more.
  5. 5 Let cool before slicing and serving.
